Career Highlights
Seruwaia Nayacalevu joined Shekinah Law in September 2011 and is a Partner and the firm’s Team Leader for Litigation. She brings deep expertise in courtroom advocacy and dispute resolution, developed through diverse legal roles in private practice, government, and international organisations.Her career began in Government Legislative Drafting, followed by roles in private law firms and with the International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
Since joining Shekinah Law, she has built a strong reputation handling complex family, estate, land, criminal, and civil litigation matters.Seruwaia has been recognised for her outstanding potential and leadership.
In 2016, she was one of only two lawyers from the Pacific region awarded the prestigious Ross Ray Scholarship by the South Pacific Lawyers Association to complete the Advocacy Course with the Australian Law Society. She was also selected as a pioneer participant in the Kingdom International Legal Network Lawyers Exchange Program, where she worked with Corney & Lind Lawyers, a leading Christian law firm in Brisbane, Australia.
A Fulbright Scholar, Seruwaia received both a Fulbright Scholarship and an Emory Law Scholarship in 2017 to pursue her Master of Laws at Emory University, graduating with Honors in 2018.
She is actively involved in the legal profession as a Council Member of the Fiji Law Society and played a key role in re-organising the Fiji Young Lawyers Association.In addition to her practice, Seruwaia serves as a Sessional Consultant Lecturer at the University of the South Pacific, where she has taught undergraduate law students since 2014, progressing from first-year tutoring to senior-year and consultant lecturing roles.
Seruwaia cherishes time spent with her loved ones and remains actively involved in interdenominational youth ministry work alongside her husband, particularly with Pacific Students for Christ.
